Obtaining

Titanium Dioxide is a synthetic inorganic white pigment, anatase and rutile, obtained by hydrolysis of titanium sulfate solution followed by calcination of hydrated titanium dioxide.

Application

Depending on the crystal structure there are two forms of titanium dioxide: R — rutile and A — anatase. In case of surface treatment an index «0» added to mark the brand.

Depending on the application titanium dioxide is produced in following brands: P-1, P-02, P-03, P-04, P-05, A-1, A-2, A-01, A-02.

Titanium Dioxide Р-02 is usually used for the production of paints, including water-dispersion weather resistant; plastic, artificial leather, film materials.

Safety requirements

Titanium Dioxide is fire and explosion proof. It is a substance of the 4th level of danger for the human body.

Packing

Titanium dioxide pigment is packed in steel flasks; steel, cardboard with seams, plywood and plywood with polyethylene liner drums; wooden, wooden with a plastic liner, plastic, paper, rubber cloth barrels.

It is allowed to pack titanium dioxide pigment in special soft disposable containers.

Guaranteed shelf life

1 year from a manufacturing date.

Basic properties and hazards
Basic properties	White powder which gets yellow when heated, thermally and chemically stable, does not react with water, dilute acids and alkalis, ammonia hydrate. The powder dissolves slowly in sulfuric acid.
Explosion and fire	Fire- and explosion- proof.
The risk to humans	There is no evidence of an acute poisoning. It is a substance of primarily fibrogenic action. Type of exposure: inhalation of aerosol, swallowing, direct contact with skin and eyes. Usually there are no symptoms of skin irritation and eyes mucous membranes irritation. The pigment irritates the upper respiratory tract.
Individual protection means	Avoid direct contact with the product. Persue the personal hygiene. Special uniform (woolen cloth costume), special boots (rubber boots), hand protection, dust mask SB-1 "petal", goggles.
