Technical silica gel
Obtaining
Technical silica gel is dried silica gel. It has a porous structure with a highly developed internal surface.
Technical silica gel is obtained by reacting sodium silicate with sulfuric acid or aluminum sulfate containing free sulfuric acid, followed by washing and drying of the resulting product.
Application
Technical silica is used as an adsorbent for drying and purification of air and other gases or vapors, for drying and purification of some liquids, as a carrier for catalysts for other purposes.
Depending on the application technical silica grains are produced in granular and lump form. The product is also graded depending on the porosity of the structure (pore radius, specific volume and specific surface of the pores) — finely porous and macroporous.

Note
Before applying, the silica gel should be dried in a flow of hot air or in an oven at 150–180 °C for 3–4 hours to remove absorbed moisture.
