Application
Dimethylformamide is used in the manufacture of synthetic fibers, films, coatings, Art. skin, polyimides, etc., to isolate the diene and acetylenic hydrocarbons from the pyrolysis gas oil fractions to aromatics extraction, solvent refining mineral lubricating oils, to dissolve dyes for dyeing paper, rayon, wood, leather, plastics, wool, as reaction medium having catalytic properties, the halogenation, hydrochlorination, the hydrocyanation of unsaturated compounds, dehydration, dehydrohalogenation, formylation, by electrosynthesis Kolbe etc., in the pharmaceutical industry for purification by crystallization dihydrostreptomycin sulfate, hydrocortisone acetate, etc.
Safety requirements
Chemical reaction of DMF with sodium hydrate is quite dangerous. This mixture disintegrates at a temperature above 26 °C. In the laboratory, it is recommended to apply ice packs. Flash Point of DMF -59 °C
Packaging
The dimethylformamide is packed in metal drums of 200 liters.
